Types of Galaxy
Elliptical Galaxy Spiral Galaxy Lenticular Galaxy Irregular Galaxy

Elliptical Galaxy

These galaxies are mostly made up of old stars and are shaped like spheres or ellipsoids. They have no spiral arms and are dominated by the light of older, reddish stars

Spiral Galaxy

These galaxies come in a variety of shapes and are classified by the size of their bulge and the appearance of their spiral arms.

Lenticular Galaxy

Lenticular galaxies are a type of galaxy that are a cross between spiral and elliptical galaxies They have a large central bulge and a flattened disk, but no spiral arms. They are mainly made up of old stars, and have little gas and dust

Irregular Galaxy

An irregular galaxy is a galaxy that doesn't have a distinct shape, like a spiral or elliptical galaxy. They can be chaotic in appearance, with no nuclear bulge or spiral arms.
