Orion Arm

The Orion Arm is a minor spiral arm of the Milky Way galaxy that contains our solar system and Earth. Located between the Carina–Sagittarius Arm and the Perseus Arm, two of the Milky Way's major arms. The Orion Arm is about 3,500 light-years wide and 20,000 light-years long. The Orion Arm is also known as the Orion–Cygnus Arm, the Local Arm, or the Orion Bridge.

Solar System

The solar system is in the Orion Arm's Orion spur, near the inner rim which lies about two-thirds of the way out from the center of the Milky way Galaxy. Solar System is a collection of planets, moons, asteroids and comets and other rocky objects orbiting the Sun. The Solar System is believed to extend out to at least 150 000 million km from the Sun, although the planets are all found within about 6000 million km. Our Solar System is thought to have formed 4.6 x 109 years ago.
