Virgo Supercluster
The Virgo SC is one of about 10 million superclusters in the observable universe and is in the Pisces–Cetus Supercluster Complex, a galaxy filament . Virgo Supercluster contains around 100 Galaxy Groups and Star Clusters. The Virgo Supercluster is about 7,000 times the size of the Local Group, and 100 billion times that of the Milky Way. It is also known as Local Supercluster.
Lanakea Supercluster
Laniakea is a giant supercluster of galaxies that includes the Milky Way, the Virgo cluster, and many smaller groups and clusters. The name Laniakea is Hawaiian for “immeasurable heaven”. Superclusters are some of the largest structures in the universe. They are made up of smaller galaxy clusters or groups. Because of their large size and low density, superclusters expand with the Hubble expansion.
Astronomers discovered the Laniakea Supercluster using the National Science Foundation’s Green Bank Telescope (GBT) and other telescopes. The Laniakea Supercluster may be part of a larger structure that scientists have not yet fully defined.
